Tonight marked the anniversary of September 11th - the date 8 years ago, that Danny's very good friend Ari (Ariel) Jacobs was killed in the World Trade Center. I never met Ari, but I've heard a lot about him; and tonight we actually went to a rehearsal dinner of a couple we know through Ari's friend (and now Danny's friend for about 15 years) Dan Levy. Ari was killed just a few days before his 30th birthday and less than week before he would became a Dad. I was thinking all day about Ari and life's fragility - and this evening's dinner capped it all off. Maybe it was the personalities in the room; or the happiness of the occasion; or the booze (don't worry - I didn't drink!), but so many people shared amazing stories of love and marriage and birth and death.... Coming home from the rehearsal dinner, I realized that tonight would be an amazing night to find out that we were about to expand our family - and enter into the craziest adventure of our lives. Sure enough - we bought a home pregnancy test - and - well, here we go! (the second one we did a few days later - just for fun!)
